Shike: Last of the Zinja

I read this book in 1980 and found it to be a fascinating literary work, depicting self sacrifice and honor. The main character, though in love w/ someone who could not be his, was none the less dedicated and honorable in his intentions toward the woman that would never truly be his. The book moves at a moderate pace w/ climaxes and denouments that strengthen the content of the story. It will be a book hard to put down, and you will look forward to Book 2.

As you can see from my e-mail address, this book has had a tremendous effect on my life. This book was written for the lover, the fighter, and those with honor. Though the book is long in pages, it is a fascinating read, and a travesty to miss.

Beautiful Artwork and a Solid Storyline

I greatly enjoyed this tale of the West in the 1880s.

The artwork is beautifully drawn: highly detailed and with a very muted but appropriate palette that really enhances an already good story. The splashes of color - typically blood from a gun shot or knife wound, really stand out all the more and punctuate the difficulty of life in the wild west. The art is also highly detailed - full color throughout and with none of the sparsity of modern digital comics. Chapters are divided with gorgeous, 2-page, high color painting-like artwork.

The story itself is excellent: with many unexpected twists and turns taken from a first person perspective. The artist gave the main character an almost childlike face to set off all the character goes through in the many years the story spans. Things always come full circle and this definitely is true of this moving story.

The book and story were definitely good enough for several rereads to experience the many nuances of the story. In all, highly recommended.

He haspublished multiple journal articles, including�several in the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Radiologic Technology, withsubjects�concerning neurosonology, pediatric sonography, pathology, andpatient care.�Mr. Penny�is currently the Lead Instructor for the Medical Sonography program at Johnston Community College in Smithfield, NorthCarolina.� He�lives in Garner, North Carolina with his wife andchildren.

All you need for SPI

I recently passed the SPI on my first try. The procrastinator I am, I have been out of school for 5 years, so I had to somewhat "relearn" physics. This book prepared me well. I did purchase two hours of the X-Zone, but that did not seem to help as much. You have to really understand the principles of physics to pass this test, and this book does a good job spelling it all out for you. There are helpful practice exams after each chapter. You also get access to an online practice exam, which I thought was too simplified as compared to the actual registry.

Great Physics Review!!!

This is an awesome review for the SPI exam! I recently took the exam and I studies this book all the way through. It is a very thorough review, but is not overwhelming with the amount of information. It is broken down in an easy to understand manner. It does not over exaggerate the material - it gives you the information you need to know to pass the SPI exam, so you do not waste your time studying tons of information that you never see on your exam. I really feel like this book well prepared me for my SPI exam. I felt as though the information that was on my exam was all covered in this one book. Give it a try!! You will not be disappointed!

helped me excel on the test

I just finished my test this morning and scored 644.

I did not have any guided training for this test and so needed a book that would be fairly comprehensive and yet easy to learn from. This book is about 190 pages or so and is very easy to read. I did not find myself overwhelmed or bored, nor was it too wordy. The diagrams, pictures, etc are all easy to understand and augment the points being made int eh text. The questions at the end of the chapter reinforce the concepts and key points from the chapter; they are slightly easier than the actual examination but it is not a huge difference.

For me at least, this book (read it twice) in conjunction with the ARDMS provided practice tests ($25) and reviewing the semi interactive questions was enough. Things went really quite smoothly.

I will definitely be using Steven Penny's book for the abdomen preparation too.

Wilfred Cantwwell Smith is Professor Emeritus of the Comparative History of Religion at Harvard and was also Chairman of the Study of Religion these. His academic career has taken him from Lahore, India, through Montreal to Harvard. It works well as an introductory and supplementary text, bringing to life more historical and textual approaches to religious traditions. It's also a nice introduction to Smith's distinctive perspective on how best to study religious life, which he elaborates with meticulous scholarship in subsequent works.

The Advice Needed for a Thesis Writer

This book is excellent for anyone who is going to, or is in the process of writing a thesis. In that it is written so that it is:
. Clear and direct in its advice;
. Divided into the appropriate relevant sections to assist a student; and
. Practical in its analysis and advice.
I strongly recomment it over the other books that I have read on this issue.
