Ron A. Carucci, Managing Partner at Navalent, is a seasoned consultant with more than twenty-five years of experience working with CEOs and senior executives of organizations ranging from Fortune 50 to start-up in pursuit of transformational change. He has taught at the graduate school level, and is the author of seven other books, including the acclaimed Leadership Divided: What Emerging Leaders need and what you Might be Missing.
Eric C. A must read for those on their way to the top or all ready there!

Ron and Eric capture the tension of leadership in organizations well. From small non-profit ministries to publicly traded corporations, if you're in a position of leadership you face daily the core tension of leading. They write, "The tension between power for self-interest, or 'power over', and power for greater good, or 'power to', will never be quelled. Learning to exert our will to advance our own AND others' agendas is the perpetual dilemma of the rise to power." Power can corrupt. Power can transform. Through vast client experiences along with in-depth research and analysis, Rising to Power offers thoughtful, compelling, and rich insights that invite both incumbent and emerging leaders to engage the tension of power and it's impact on who we are becoming as leaders of organizations. It's about time!

With 30+ years in product and business development, I’ve read plenty of books on corporate leadership, but none that emphasizes the importance of emotional and social intelligence in determining an executive’s success. "Rise to Power" challenges you to engage employees and clients in honest, sustainable ways that will build trust and cause them to want to come back for more. I wish I’d had this type of wisdom when I first entered management.
This is not a book to skim, but a rich textbook of hard-earned insights to help prepare you for the inevitable confusions that come when you move into executive leadership. Eric and Ron take you on a journey toward self-awareness and legacy thinking and then offer practical tools for both personal and business growth. They guide you with kind-hearted yet heavy-hitting realities of maturing in a competitive landscape, growing up as an executive who desires to live with integrity. A skillful and kind guide for your journey into power

I was on a dangerous mountaineering trip a few years ago with a guide who understood that the best application of his power was in the service of our team. Although we had varying levels of skill, the guide never used coercion or shame to influence our pace to the summit and most importantly, he did not abdicate his power as we trekked through crevasse-filled terrain. Rising to Power is an equally incredible guide that understands the terrain of your organizations and prepares you to lead with wisdom and skill. Chapter 5 is superb and transformed the way I understand the nature of power - specifically in Carucci and Hansen's articulation of how leaders who abdicate their power are "every bit as egregious and destructive as their abusive counterparts". Well worth the read.
