Un libro que lastimosamente ha llegado tarde, a un mundo que se ha vuelto pol�ticamente correcto

Tuve la oportunidad de leer este libro en ingles hace un a�o y ahora que est� la versi�n en espa�ol he aprovechado a comprarlo y leerlo de nuevo. Hay unas actualizaciones nuevas en esta version.

Cuando le� este libro no ten�a idea del Islam, el Cor�n y mucho menos Mahoma. No ten�a idea de como poder explicar todos los sucesos y mas a�n tanta confusi�n expresada en nuestros medios de noticias, adem�s pol�ticos y expertos en el medio. Siempre me pareci� un tema distante, y realmente estaba a favor de la multiculturalidad y el derecho de los musulmanes para expresar su religi�n. Sin embargo, gracias a los hechos expuestos por el Dr. Warner en este libro me pude dar cuenta de la agenda pol�tica que posee el Islam y como esto ha esta ocurriendo desde hace 1400 a�os.

M�s importante me pude dar cuenta de como, siendo un no creyente del Islam, los textos del Islam hablan sobre como deben tratarme y manipularme y adem�s me han etiquetado como un Kafir. Y el Kafir es casi tratado como un animal bajo un gobierno en el que la ley Shar�a es la ley de la tierra.

Adem�s de esto, el contenido de Bill Warner se caracter�za por no ser personal y religioso sino que basado en hechos. Cada uno de sus cap�tulos puede ser vinculados directo al Cor�n, la Sira y el Hadiz, dejando claramente que de lo que el habla es realmente Islam.

Sin duda alguna, hay muy pocos que se atreven a decir las cosas asi de claras y uno de ellos es Bill Warner con sus libros. Y este libro lo recomiendo para todo aquel amante de la liberta y los derechos humanos.

Coming with zero knowledge about Islam, this book served me well as a practical, easy to read, eye-opening introduction. I think many things were either vague, general or influenced by author's opinion but this is good because now I feel I'm introduced to the topic and I want to research more about this political-religious system and their current course of action in the world. A must read for beginners.

It seems like I just have too many unused and unwanted things

Despite a few flaws this book is a must read for anyone interested in simplifying their life or gaining more insight into the minimalist movement.
I bought this book because I was curious about the concept of de-cluttering . It seems like I just have too many unused and unwanted things. The author’s insight and knowledge of his subject was right on. It gave me lots to think about.
While there are a few things I wish he’d expanded upon more the book is definitely a must read for any budding minimalists or even just people who are curious about simplifying their lives.
The concept of de-cluttering your emotional life really hit a chord with me. It makes sense to get yourself emotionally prepared to take on the challenge of simplification.
Great book! I heartily recommend it.

Make it work for you, do not work for it

Having been through a forced self examination period, the author came to understand what was really important to him and in the book he shares some very valid insight.

Some key take aways that I got from this book:

You need to really understand what your version of simplify means before you start this journey.
Know what really makes you happy, if you don't know, find out.
When you know what makes you happy, make it a priority.
Sometimes you just have to release and let it go.
It's OK to say no to yourself and to others.
Is it really important?
Make it work for you, do not become a slave to it.

This book is definitely a good read and probably has some value for everyone. Even if you are not into your version of simplification, there should be some valuable take aways in this book for you.

Great collection but might not be what you're expecting

[[VIDEOID:moX2P7CNL8ARDP]]In 2012, Dark Horse released the first edition of The Sky limited to 1000 copies. Many who pre-ordered were left sorely disappointed when their books did not ship when the shipping date went by. 1000 limited copies for fans of Final Fantasy, a game series that has over millions of fans. Now that's truly limited.

Well, it's all good now. Dark Horse has released, this time, a non-limited edition of The Sky that is more easily available. Although there are no additional goodies with this release.

This is a slipcase set with three hardcover books. The cardboard slipcase is covered with some silky fabric with a beautiful print across and to the back. It's very sturdy cardboard and even has a cover for the opening. The presentation is very nice.

Inside the book there are the three large format artbooks. Volume 1 collects works for FF I-III, Volume 2 for FF IV-VI and 3 for FF VII-X. This is a collection of artworks from 1987 to 2001. Altogether, there are 576 pages.

This box set might not be what you're expecting depending on the type of FF fan you are.

I suspect there might be a group of fans or designers looking for art that is closer to the games. You know, like those art-of books typically released alongside games? The Sky is not like those artbooks. There's no full list of characters or enemies, environment art (I'm still looking for these), weapons, vehicles or promotional art.

The focus in on character designer Yoshitaka Amano and his character designs. There are over hundreds of drawings of characters and enemies in the unique Amano style of art.

It really interesting to see, for the first few games, how those dot matrix game sprites are translated into or from the concept art. If you've not played the games, these designs will appear foreign. Even if you've played the games, they might still appear foreign because they can be wildly different from their video game form. Therein lies the brilliance of Amano, who can create such a huge cast of characters for the FF world.

The amount of content for each game varies. Book 2 is the thickest so you get a bulk of work from FF IV to VI. Book 3 is quite thin with only ten pages for FFVII. Much is of Cloud and Aeris, with occasional appearance of Sephiroth and RedXIII.

Not all characters or enemies drawn are labeled. It's a challenge to identify them sometimes.

Depending on where you buy it from, there might be additional weight surcharge. This box set is heavy. It ships with its own custom sized cardboard shipping box designed to prevent damage. That's the way to do it for an exquisite set.

You might know that there was an earlier book called Dawn: The Worlds of Final Fantasy. Much of that book's content is duplicated here so there's no reason to get that book anymore.

Ultimately, this boxset represents great value for money. Grab it fast if you like the art.

Unbelievable collection, unbelievable bargain.

I am still in shock, but lets see if I can manage a quick review.

This is probably the best investment in printed media I have ever made. When the package arrived, it felt like it was loaded with bricks. When I opened the package, I got my second surprise: The gorgeous box containing the books themselves. I was under the impression it was a real 'slipcase' from the item description - a circular piece of paper or printed plastic that slid off from around the books. No, it's this big, sturdy case covered entirely with the fabric cover illustration. The case has a tab that opens the side panel which snaps shut well with all three books inside.

The books themselves are delightful. Not only containing Amano's most iconic works from 1987 to 2001, the books also have countless character, monster, and location illustrations. The reproduction is gorgeous, to the point where I'm still not completely sure I paid as little as I did for this collection.

If I had to lay out a drawback, I would mention that this collection does not encompass Amano's work on Final Fantasy XI, which I consider to be one of his peaks of illustrative perfection. The only other con would be lacking the goodies of the very limited run first edition 'box set', but most of those box sets were snapped up by scalpers and now run for literally 10 times the current price of this item on Amazon.

Summary: If you're a fan of Amano's work and would consider one of the many collections available, this set should be the top of the list without question. It is more comprehensive, at a lower price, than pretty much any other on the market.

A Special Collection

The Final Fantasy series has been a fairly big part of my life for the past decade, so I made my obligatory visits to fan-sites every now and again. Now, a handful of these websites had photo galleries dedicated to concept artwork, most of which was done by a Yoshitaka Amano. At first, I didn't get the fuss over this Yoshitaka Amano guy. He liked to make brunettes blond, and he thought that chocobos were pterodactyls. Everybody either wore nothing but a cape, or they had on garish motley costumes. I certainly saw the Final Fantasy quintessence embodied in my favorites, but some of them just seemed odd.

Over the years, I started to pick up on the subtleties of Amano's works. Many of them were still, brooding, and somber; yet just as many were whimsical, vibrant, and active. But somehow, I could feel a small narrative in essentially every piece, that unmistakable Final Fantasy quality.

When I saw this box set on Amazon for pre-order, and for a reasonable price, I figured it would be nice to own some of those drawings and paintings in real life, not in compressed .jpg format. I justified the preorder by telling myself that I could probably sell this for a lot of money in due time. Well, I don't want to sell this thing now that I have it.

Opening up the first volume yesterday afternoon, I recognized a couple of familiar drawings. I flipped through the pages fairly quickly, until I noticed that there was a clear narrative moving along with each turn of the page. Not only had Amano documented the creative process of Final Fantasy, he was telling the game's story through his own eyes as well! I began looking at each page much more slowly, taking in the big picture as well as each individual sketch. The same as Nobuo Uematsu has defined Final Fantasy through his music, Amano truly is synonymous with the visual world of Final Fantasy. Looking through these drawings, I could see how painstakingly Square's in-game artists worked to bring Amano's visionary ideas to life with integrity and consistency.

Throughout the first two volumes, it was amazing to watch as Amano's works became more detailed, more ornate, and more prolific for each successive installment in the series. Final Fantasy VI's section alone spanned over 100 pages! The final volume then showed a different, more experimental side of Amano, as he had been removed from his role at the creative helm, ceding to the likes of Tetsuya Nomura and Yusuke Naora (VII, VIII, and X), and Hideo Minaba (IX). Instead of creating many bright environments and characters, Amano shifted his focus to much more detailed, tender scenes, oftentimes through less traditional media like printmaking. Amano's emphasis on specific moments in Volume 3 casts a different tone than was captured in the first two books, but all paint an equally vivid narrative of the Final Fantasy series and its evolution. It's a spectacular journey!

As for the technical details, I was surprised at how heavy the set was! I guess that's the best testament I can give to the set's durability. As others have mentioned, the outer "slipcase" is in fact an incredibly sturdy box, with an amazing cloth graphic covering the whole thing. The books themselves have nice, thick glossy paper. They are bound loosely enough that the book can be laid flat to any page but sturdily enough that pages don't feel like they'll fall out anytime soon. Perhaps the only technical complaint I have about the book is that a small number of drawings and paintings either appear to cropped to fit on a page or are magnified to take up more space. In both cases the images look slightly out of place. Overall, though, this is an incredibly detailed, faithful, and durable set. My highest recommendation both for product quality and for content.

Also of note: Amazon packs this thing as if it were as fragile as an egg! I'm very impressed and thankful for the care that went into a safe delivery.

About the Author
John A. Nevin, known as Tony, professor emeritus at the University of New Hampshire, studied engineering at Yale University, served in the US Coast Guard, and obtained his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology at Columbia University in 1963. Since then, he has published over 100 articles and book chapters on the experimental analysis of behavior, many of them co-authored with colleagues, graduate students, and undergraduates. He has received awards from Division 25 of the American Psychological Association, the Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis, and the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior for his research contributions and their impact on application.

The best derivations for PN, BJT,MOS cap and MOSFET !!!

This is one of the best books explaining the pn junction, bipolar transistors, MOS capacitor , and the MOSFET. The derivation are extremely clear and logical,and every question that you think of is answered in the next line. This book is for someone who already have taken some course in electronics, and who really wants some solid understanding of the devices, all that without being a genious in semiconductor physics. Gauss's low, and KVL is almost all that is needed. Derivations are extremely clear, and thorough.

Physical details and thorough mathematical explanations

This is by far the best Microelectronics book I've ever read (and I have a large collection). The authors really dig deep into the material and explain every little step as you progress toward the bigger picture. I absolutely love this textbook. I recommend it to anyone who appreciates a technical read with rigorous and thorough mathematical derivations of equations that describe physical phenomena in microelectronic devices and materials.

Textbook for an MIT electrical engineering header

Charles Sodini is a professor at MIT who teaches 6.012 (Microelectronic Circuits and Devices) and is the co-author of this book, which we use in his class.
The textbook is very well organized and gives very clear examples and numerous practice and design problems to play with. The derivations are easy to follow and the diagrams are well notated and complement the text.
6.012 is a one semester course at MIT covering all the topics discussed in the textbook. In addition to weekly problem sets (which are nothing more than the P problems from the textbook), the course is supplimented by a design project (similar to a design question you might find in chapter 13, but at a bigger scale), and two laboratories in device characterization (sadly, only available for MIT students). SPICE is used extensively.
Someone mentioned that the problems seem like plug-and-chug, but I think the book is trying to teach you intuition so when you handle realistic problems (such as those presented in the design project questions), you have an idea of how to approach it through rough hand-calculations and then follow up with more precise measurements in SPICE.

Surprisingly, a really good book

The book doesn't get a 5 because it doesn't refer to EViews for its procedures. Business forecasting is really difficult using just Excel. If any of you have ever created scatter plots with Excel, you know that it's a time consuming process. EViews is an extremely fast tool and this Business Forecasting book should include procedures for using EViews because that is the preferred tool used in Biz Forecasting classes.

I've had many statistics classes, and the explanation of statistics in this textbook is by far the best I have ever seen. The book is well written and about as clear as it is possible to make this difficult subject. Other people have complained about this textbook, and I would argue that the textbook is really good, but that the subject is just very difficult. If you don't have an excellent instructor, you will find yourself weeding around in the dark looking for direction. It is certainly possible to just follow the book, but it is sometimes not entirely clear why you are doing what you are doing. Again, not the fault of the textbook. Forecasting is inherently a very complex topic and you are going to be hurting without a good professor. Fortunately, I had a good one for my class. I had originally checked this textbook out of the library, but I found myself wanting to keep it as an excellent reference, so I bought my own copy.

Hard book to use

You are not buying this book because you want to.
But be warned, if you are not using Minitab for class, you will have to scour the Internet for Excel tips and tricks to make the lessons work out.
I found the font to be too small for many of the important points (some of the problems absolutely could not be worked without the exact reference to the fine print notes on pages below the examples). Why would you reduce the font size for the examples?
Working through the text was difficult due to inconsistent and poorly referenced greeks (rho means several different things in the book).
If you are an instructor, you should assign individual members of your statistics class the same case study topics throughout the course (stick with the same data set) to increase the richness of the experience. H&W apply the successive statistics topic to the same basic case study data sets from chapter to chapter.

I learned a lot - but the experience could have been better with more Excel, and more consistency, and better editing.

On my 4th stats related class and this book is by far the worst. Why would you use/reference methods, tests, or models from Chapter 9 in Chapter 2 and not provide explanation? Why would you give examples, but not explain all the steps? Why would you refer to mini tab outputs without providing instructions on how to accomplish them? This book does not follow the standard basic to challenging presentation of material. Instead, it jumps around and fails to truly explain the concepts. Texts is tiny - tough to read even with my glasses I typically don't need. Mr. Hanke - I recommend a new editor.

Will their love survive?

After falling for Alexander and Alexia in book one, I suspected that things may take a turn for the worse in the second book. After all who's going to read a series where everyone is always happy-go-lucky and in love without any of the drama?
However, this book did not go quite as I expected. While in Dubai, to check on the status of one of his hotels, Alexander and Alexia are forced to deal with some issues from their pasts. As more details of Alexander's sordid history comes to the forefront Alexia starts to doubt her place in his world, not that I blame her. How can this handsome, wealthy, playboy ever really settle down? As these fears continue to weigh on Alexia, Alexander begins to show a pattern of possessive and domineering behavior.
When they return to Zurich, Alexia's worst fears are confirmed when she finds Alexander in a compromising position with a woman from his past. Will these two be able to work past their issues and find love with one another? At this point I'm not so sure.
Thank goodness I already have the third book so I can jump right back into their story and get some answers:)

Really Good Series

This book is much more emotional and intense than the first one, but I have really enjoyed reading both of them. There were many times in this book that Alexander was a little too possessive and too jealous for me, but then he would make up for it later. He definitely has some secrets that are giving him issues, but the question is, does he really love Alexia? Alexia is having lots of trouble trusting Alexander, and having confidence in their relationship. Now let me tell you, Sharlyn G. Branson really knows how to write some scorching, sizzling, hot sex scenes. They definitely don't have any issues there. Warning: This book does have a really big cliffhanger. I want to quickly get started reading the next book to see what happens next. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review.

In this book we see more of Alexia insecurities in the relationship with Alexander. Alex past is coming back to bite him in the butt when Alexia are asking him questions he knew that would hurt her. I can see that Alexander really loves her and he is doing his best to show her. Oh, I so dislike Vanessa by the way. Another cliffhanger. Now I have to find out what's going on. Will their love survive or will it be over for Alexia and Alexander? I can't wait to read the next book.

“Alexia, be more responsible and check your cell from now on.” He sounded like my father, which made me roll my eyes."

“God, how soft your lips are. You’re so sweet. What have you done to me, Alexia? I’m losing myself in you,” he whispered, his lips touching mine. “I want you forever. I want you to be mine. Just mine.”

“You make me want you all the time, Alexia. No other woman has had such power over me. And you must remember this once and for all.”

“I hear every word, baby. It’s you who’s not hearing me. You are made for me. Just for me. I’ve finally met the woman of my life and I want to be with her, with YOU.”

Francesco took a step toward me, hugged me, and we were about to give each other pecks on the cheeks when Alexander grabbed me by the waist and pulled me toward him in a gesture of possession. He was showing a sense of property toward me, keeping me only for himself and preventing any man from touching me. He’d managed to drill that into me already. I hadn’t met a more jealous man in my life.

“We have to talk,” he said in a quiet and seemingly calm voice.
